Hamilton Unbeatable in Canada

Lewis Hamilton took another win, this time in Canada, adding valuable points to his championship tally.

Hamilton started from pole position, the most memorable of his career as he drew level with his hero Ayrton Senna. A good get away ensured he avoided the first lap carnage involving Felipe Massa and Carlos Sainz.

Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel suffered damage from surrounding incidents on Lap 1. He was forced to make an early pit stop that demoted him to 18th.

Force India had their most successful race to date, with both Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez spending the majority of the race in the top three. Rookie driver Ocon drove with as much skill and intellect as experienced teammate Perez.

A strange penalty situation involving Daniil Kvyat occurred on Lap 15. The race had just restarted after a brief safety car period. The stewards announced they'd be investigating Kvyat for overtaking behind the safety car. After finding him guilty, they gave him a five-second time penalty. However, a few laps later, the stewards issued Kvyat with another penalty, claiming they'd initially given him the wrong penalty. The additional penalty was a ten-second stop and go. This ruined any chances of a good result for Kvyat.

The final few laps saw an intense battle between Mercedes, Force India, Red Bull and Ferrari. Despite having great pace all race, it all proved too much for Ocon and Perez, who's tyres were worn out. Vettel had battled from the back of the order and continued to fight for a spot on the podium. Unfortunately, he just fell short.

Lewis Hamilton took another lights to flag win. This proved the perfect way for Hamilton to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his first win, which also came in Canada.
