Hamilton's German Summer LOvin

It was summer lovin for Lewis Hamilton as he took his 6th victory of 2016 at his team's home race in Germany.

Despite starting behind home driver and teammate Nico Rosberg, Hamilton had a stunning start, stealing the lead when the lights went out. Red Bull also took advantage of Rosberg's bad start, demoting him to 4th.

Early on in the race, many drivers had to pit for fresh rubber. The high track temperatures made tyre strategy decisions challenging for the teams.

It was a tough day for Felipe Massa, who made contact with Jolyon Palmer on Lap 1. Although there was no visible damage to the Williams, it was obvious to see that he was struggling from that point onwards.

The second half of the race was fairly routine, with Hamilton casually cruising at the front and those behind looking after their cars and tyres.

A flawless 67 lap race by Lewis Hamilton resulted in his 6th victory of 2016, increasing his championship lead to 19 points. Hamilton was joined on the podium by Red Bull drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen for trophies, celebrations and drinking champagne from race boots!
